I was wondering if there were any armourers out there doing kastenbrust reproductions. I thought Mac and Gillaspie did some work with the style, but that seems to be the limit of it.
I'm working on a harness myself and was hoping to see others interpretations of the limited pieces and artwork from the time period.

Hi,
I think that Peter Müller in Germany did quite a bit of work regarding research and reproducing the kastenbrust a few years ago.
I also seem to recall seeing some pictures of one that Peter Fuller made a while back. I certainly have never made one , or even been asked about making one.
Probably James Gillaspie is your best bet to ask, it is a period that he seems to specialise in.
Please share some pictures of the harness you are working on, it is always nice to see what others are making :)
Regards,
Russ

I appreciate the info. Any chance that you know if Müller has a website?
Here is a link to the progress thread I have up on the armour archive.

It is still in a very rough stage, but progress has been good the last week or so. I'm hoping to get to the cleaning up stage within two weeks.

Mr. Hinton,
Unfortunately I do not know if Peter Müller has a website, but you could contact him via the Armour Forum.

Nice work, it is coming along nicely ! It is really nice to see someone making some thing different. I will look forward to seeing some more pictures of the completed project. :)

Russ

Peter Mullers site is http://www.plattnerwerkstatt.de/ don't think he's updated in a while as he's done some seriously tasty german armour that's not on there.

Well, that´s a great link, didn´t know him yet, thanks. He has some nice pieces and the lines/shapes look promising in the pictures.
