Well thanks to social distancing amid the Covid business, I’ve been able to put in a lot of hours on this, and just finished this latest build. The steel prod is 130 lbs; too heavy to pull comfortably by hand so I’m going to build a wippe to go with it. Tiller is walnut, deck is oak, with inlays made from takeout chopsticks! And the branch’s bits are epoxy mixed with sawdust. internal trigger parts are aluminium; it’s a simple two-axel tumbler lock. The nut is laminated maple and walnut, with steel reinforcing pins through the fingers and an aluminium sear plate. Test shots were good- it shoots dead straight and has a hell of a kick. All string and rope is hemp waxed down with beeswax.
