I have another bollock dagger from the Rothenburg Collection here and boy do I like the pieces there. (Yes I know)
This very attractive dagger is Flemish, late 15thC and is based on one kept in the Rothenburg Collection in Germany.
The distinctive and very unusual blade has a prominent ridge below the ricasso area, a short fuller and a very narrow single edged blade, starting at 8mm thick and around 21mm wide. My makers mark is filled in brass.
The delicate guard is in brass as is the pommel cap and the grip is in ebony. The chape is also in brass.
The sheath is a double layer veg tan leather piece that has been decorated with incised lines and stamping and is suspended on a white alum tawed thong.
The blade is 33cm/13" long and the grip section of the hilt is 9cm/3.5" and overall the length is 44.5cm/17.5"
This piece is currently available (14th June 2017)
I hope you like it and of course any questions or comments are very welcome.
Regards
Tod
