Yes...

clothing that looked like everybody else in their social station.

Just a note there is no point in making multiple posts as it doesn't increase the odds of getting an answer and if you change your mind, make a typo or just want to add something you can use the EDIT button instead of adding another post.

Just general advice and information so don't take it as being unfriendly. Wink Cool And welcome to the site.

As to the " question " I would say that depending on context there would be no costume an assassin would wear and he or she would wear what they needed to wear for the mission.

It could be a disguise but it should be something to make one unnoticeable and the point is to not attrack attention.

The only time I could see some special clothing is maybe some form of camouflage to be hard to see at night and this kind of thing is more like sneaking to take out a sentry or a modern commando/ninja like mission.

Historically your assassin would want to blend in and stab the target in the back and get away with as little noise or attention as possible if he/she is a professional i.e. no suicide attempts except by fanatics or the insane.

Then there is always poison or an ambush of many assassins on an isolated victim or an expert trained swordsman insulting the victim's wife or daughter to goad the victim into a duel they couldn't possibly win for example. ( Dependant on a culture where duels of honour are common and the victim couldn't avoid the duel without being labelled a coward ).

The last thing one would want to wear is " The official Assassin's " costume that everybody would see a mile away.

Yea srry don't know why it posted twice. But thx for advice really helped. I haven't thought about that. I like the duel idea as well.

Is there even an "official" outfit?

Thx for welcome

Clearly you need to play more Assassin's Creed Laughing Out Loud
But seriously, I think that just wearing everyday clothing is best disguise/cameoflage one could use.
No point wearing black when it's so expensive to produce and really quite distinct and easily recalled.
Just my opinion though.

At night I've read that a medium dark gray is actually more effective camouflage than jet black that can stand out more if one wanders into a pool of even dim light.

But sorry no uniforms unless you really want to be spotted and indentified as an assassin and killed. Even in medieval times assassination was considered a crime and any " professional guild of assassins " would have tried to be " quiet " about their profession to be effective and not be arrested and killed ..... i.e. secret societies tend to be discret or they don't stay secret for long. ( Also mostly opinion. Wink Big Grin ).

Sorry Darin, but in the medieval times there weren't an official assassin guild as there is in Oblivion... Is just one of the big disappointments of every fantasy geek that start to study history (me included, despite my five years of Liceo Classico), like the fact that they didn't use giant two handed hammers with a weight of +or- 20 kg.

I concur that an assassin would wear the most common garment he can get, the more so to blend with the crowd after the fact. And to blend in the night a good brown tunic is almost as a good as a black one.

Does anyone have a realistic instance in which my "assassin" would assassinate someone and who most likely would this person be?

Assasins (the sect) during the crusades usually assasinated big figures like frankish lords or even kings of Jerusalem or equally important moslem lords. Assasins had their own politic, sometimes they were allied with Crusaders, sometimes with Moslems.

Darin,

please use the Internet not only for playing games and asking questions, but for searching information by yourself.
One or two google searchs and you would've known all the answers you are asking from us. We do not compensate other people´s lazyness. However have a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashshashin. This is your asassins "guild" you are looking for... maybe they even wore black and had secret handshakes. Wink If you have questions about more complex themes, feel nevertheless free to post them.

Thomas

Neither "Medieval" nor "Europe" but perhaps check out the "Thugee" in India.

Assassination, as most people think of it, was uncommon. I've read stories (but don't remember specifics) of "assassinations" that consisted of a group of armed knights walking up to the target in church and slaughtering him. And other similar stories.

No where near as "elegant" or refined as in Fiction.

Cheers,
Steven

True, but that was a scuffle that turned deadly as opposed to out-and-out assassination, right?
