Hi,

I'm trying to discover which model rifles were in use with the Danish forces at the Battle of Dybbøl in 1864. I know what models were in general use at the time but not specifically which were in use with units at the battle. If anyone knows this would be most helpful. If you also know which specific unit used whatever rifle, I would be very much obliged to you.

Ian

the danish forces used 6 defrent rifles in 1864 must of the sadly outdated. here is a picture of four of them.

1# Tapriffel M/1848, kaliber 16,9 mm, vægt 5 kg, længde 131 cm. Låsen er mærket "MD-1848".

2# Suhler tapriffel M/1854, kaliber 16,9 mm, vægt 5 kg. Låsen er mærket "M-31".

3# Miniériffel M/1828, kaliber 17,8 mm, vægt 5 kg. Låsen er mærket "MD-1828".

4# Miniériffel M/1822 ex fransk, kaliber 17,8 mm, vægt 4,2 kg, længde 137 cm. Låsen er mærket fx. "MreRle de st. Etienne".

the two other models used was

# Tapriffel M/1831, kaliber 16,9 mm, vægt 5 kg, længde 131 cm. Låsen er mærket "M-31"

# Miniériffel M/1840 ex fransk, kaliber 17,8 mm, vægt 5,1 kg. Låsen er mærket fx. "Mre Rle Mutzig".

if you are able to read danish this is the website i got the info on, used it for a school project a few years back.
the infomation comes from a book called Tøjhusetmuseets bog om 1864. Våben og uniformer, dont know if it is translated to english.
