I'm making an all-hide Egyptian shield in conjunction with a figure-8 shield. Pics soon. I've had the hide for these projects for over a decade.

Some pics. Three layers of heavy hair-on-cowhide, tightly bound with double-knotted loops. It is totally rigid. In the ultimate visual metaphor for the middle-age guy with no kids and just hobbies, I could be seen bathing a large puce of rawhide in a kiddie pool in my yard..
anyway, it will have a horizontal handle. I?m working on making it from a billet now. The stitches seem in the front will be covered by the bronze boss. I?ll edge it with very thick rawhide and paint or tool and fold it a la Tut. Forgive my typing etc. I do everything from a phone.

I don?t seem to be able to successfully upload pictures here. Maybe files are too big.

Since I?m not going to be changing the file size of pics each time, I may need to migrate.

Todd, I think Flickr is still relatively good for image hosting and sharing, like Photobucket used to be. I hope the AA comes back soon. You could put your final photos on Wikimedia Commons.

That's a good idea Sean! For now I'll probably keep using Imgur, as I'm already using it. I haven't had a chance in years to update my stuff on various platforms; don't even have the passwords for a lot of it anymore. The last decade was spent fnishing up my job and taking care of my dog, and doing art when I had a chance... That has all change now! Happy

Imgur sounds fine too and has been around for a long time. I get error 403 Forbidden from the Armour Archive since about two or three weeks now.

BTW, I enjoyed checking in on your progress with the Woodworking Diary. Cool stuff. Working with wood is fun, a lot more fun than dealing with pieces of hide off animals. I love animals, so am conflicted about making shields out of them. I didn?t want this hide to go to waste though. It will be the last time anyway, with these two projects. There is something gruesome about it.
