Next out of the armoury is this gorgeous open-faced Italian sallet, based on the Royal Armouries # IV.424.

The helm was smithed by Patrick Thaden, and then customised by Sean Flynt, as documented in this thread (as well as others): http://myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=159...t=milanese

This sallet has a great history, and Sean’s work on transforming it was a long labour of love. I hate to part with it, but ‘needs must at times like this’.

The piece also comes complete with a suspended cloth liner, handmade by Sean. In its current form, it fits my 22.25 inch / 56.5 cm head with room to spare, therefore allowing for a larger head, thin arming cap, or using a thicker liner.

This piece is located in New Zealand, and will ship via NZ Post’s International Courier at cost with tracking and full insurance. (The online calculator suggests cost to the US, for example, would be about US$65.)
