This listing has been REMOVED and is no longer active
What I have here is a modified Windlass pompeii gladius, and I've attempted to create an early Irish short sword.
Disclaimer: This is my first modified/ homemade sword. There are many imperfections, especially on the blade. I have tried to photograph these to fairly represent the sword, as this is by no means a fine work of art. Some of the flaws are due to my own mistakes, and others are due to the Windlass blade not being great to begin with. The blade has some dents, and it is somewhat scratched mostly where I have tried my best to sand out the ricasso. The steel isn't very even throughout the blade. It is bent, although not terribly so. It will require an edge to be put on it if sharpness is desired. If you have any interest in this item I highly recommend you contact me about any other defects it may have. I am hoping this will find a home with a re-enactor of the Irish Iron Age. For the record I do not recommend the Windlass pompeii gladius for a project piece!
The good news is it will be inexpensive, I am asking 70 USD (OBO) plus shipping. I have attempted to represent a pommel piece similar to the ones shown here in Rynne's article (the image attached).
Overall length (including threaded end) 25.5 inches
Blade length: 18 inches
Grip length: 3.5 inches
POB: around about 4.5 inches from cross
Fittings: What I think is a stainless steel plate. Brass threaded end.
Pommel: Threaded.
