I am offering a rare treat for sale, an extremely rare Mad Piper (Donnie Shearer) Sterling Basket Hilted Claidheamh Mor Broadsword. As you know, Mad Piper is no longer making swords, so this is a rare opportunity to get one of his very historically accurate pieces. This model is based on swords from approximately 1700 - 1735, produced in Sterling, with the famous backwards "S" on the side guards. The sword is variably antiqued, with purposely added patina and corrosion on both hilt and blade. The handle is hardwood wrapped in black leather, with an overlay of braided twisted wire in steel and brass. Blade is high carbon steel made specifically for Mad Piper, with triple fullers with engraving included: S's, X's, crescents, "Andrea Ferara", and the mottoes "Parcere Subiectis" and "Et Debulare Superbos". Basket is also steel made to the correct size and shapes with piercings, excised lines and even a little pitch on the inside of the panels.. The scabbard is of thin brown leather, with steel throat and chape. It includes a leather thong so it can be tied up out of the way for battle, just like the original. Stats are:

Overall length: 39.5"
Blade length: 34"
Blade width at hilt: 2 1/8"
Weight: approximately 3 lbs.

I am asking $800 for this rare sword, which will include shipping and insurance to CONUS. Please include another 3% if paying with Paypal. International buyers will need to contact me first, as I have never shipped overseas and don't know what the costs are like. Thanks!
