Bec De Corbin
Fighting on foot in the lists was one of the more popular portions of the Tournament. Not only was it fun for the participants and spectators, it was also great training for real warfare when the initial clash ended up hand-to-hand. The weapon most used in these combats was the pollax (Poll referring to the head, rather than being on a pole). We have copied one of the favorite weapons of the French; they called it Bec De Corbin or "Raven's Beak". With a top spike, back spike, a four-pronged hammer head and langets, this was a fearsome weapon. Mounted on an ash shaft, it is well suited for hand-to-hand combat. There are several treatises on the use of the pollax which involve blocking, striking and using the butt to smash feet. Considered a knightly weapon, the Bec De Corbin was used for foot combat, and was particularly effective against full plate armor.

German Warhammer
The proliferation of plate armor across Medieval Europe was shadowed by the development of crushing weapons like this war hammer. Since swords were virtually useless against plate armor, mounted knights used short hammers, axes and maces to defeat an opponent's improved protection. This beautiful, impressive weapon is replicated from an example in the German National Museum in Nuremberg. Steel head is secured to the hardwood shaft with steel langets. Brass tacks provide a more secure grip. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts. 21 1/2" overall. 5" head. Wt. 2 lbs.
