For Sale: Early Style Bowie or Rifleman's knife. Dixie Gun Works markets this as a "mini Searles Bowie", but I think it works well as a belt knife for just about any period from Migration era to Modern. Here's the info from DGW: Hand crafted by Wilderness Forge of Redmond, Oregon, the “Mini-Searles” has a 6 ¾” long, 1 ¼” wide, double ground blade made from D2 steel tempered to 57-59Rc. While the cutting edge is ground to razor sharpness the spine of the blade is left unsharpened. Guard, ferrule and pommel are nickel silver. The 4 ¾”, black, genuine buffalo horn handle sports a spacer made from a silver 25 cent piece. This is a perfect knife for the re-enactor since it fits any period from 1830s to the present as well as being a great tool for the hunter or outdoorsman. Original edge, never used. From the pictures, it looks like a crack in the handle, there is NO crack, it is the pattern of the horn. Comes with leather belt sheath. Asking $99.00 with free shipping in the Continental US.
