Up for sale is a hardcover edition of Peter Finer's 1999 sale catalogue (his 4th catalogue). It is chock-full of high-quality antiques with great pictures and well-researched descriptions written up by Ian Eaves, David Edge, Robert Elgood, Anthony North and Ewart Oakeshott. There are 44 items, each getting at least 2 pages of coverage. Items cover the 18th century BC through the 19th centuries.

The following threads show items from this edition:

And many more including a Viking sword, a haubergeon, rapiers, firearms, armour pieces, and a composite Maximilian harness. These are fantastic pictorial references, with nicely written descriptions. There aren't many publications with higher quality pictures.

Peter Finer's catalogues, especially the hardcover editions, are rare and much sought-after. They regularly go for over $100.

This catalogue is in great condition. The book itself is tight, clean, and undamaged. The dust jacket is generally in outstanding shape. The gold lettering on the cover is much better than the scan shows and is as-new. Something was spilled on the back of the dust jacket, but as the scans show, it's not visible unless you look at the inside of the dust jacket. The book has been inscribed to "David" and is signed by Peter.

Asking $65 + s/h. Money Order accepted, PayPal preferred (please add 3%).

Price drop to $60, a good price for a pictorial reference of this quality, not to mention a fairly rare title.

Dropped to $55. I don't expect to go a great deal lower. This is a good deal on a rare title. Happy

Peter Finer's catalogues from 1997 on are harder to find than the 1995 and 1996 editions (which he gave out freely). These later editions were given to established customers and sold to other interested parties rather than given out to all interested people.

These are far better than your average museum or auction catalogue, with better pictures and descriptions written by heavyweights in the field.
