I am posting this beautiful tanto on behalf of my good friend Antonio Cejunior. He is unable to answer emails for the next several days due to a loss in his family.
The tanto is currently with me, in Portland, Oregon, as I have just finished polishing this piece.
This is a Louis Mills tanto in pristine condition. As mentioned, it was just re-polished by myself, the surface being refined with jizuya and then very lightly etched with a mild lemon juice blend.
The blade has an incredibly tight hada, profuse nie, nioi, great depth of detail and color, and is just gorgeous. If you're not familiar with Mr. Mills' work, it is, in my opinion, some of the finest Japanese-style bladework in the West. Louis smelts his own steel and gets incredible activity in his hamon. His blades have identical properties to traditionally made nihonto.
The mounts were designed by Antonio Cejunior and executed by Randy Black. Please visit the link at the end of this post for more photos and information on this fine piece.
