Looking to sell or trade this fantastic example of a Garde écossaise basket hilt. In comparison to other examples I have seen it has a lovely appropriate broad blade (shortened) and is just a real work of art. Potentially with the lovely decor a officers and late 1700s. Many failed Jacobites joined. The address of the Paris maker on the blade dates it to pre French Revolution, they were disbanded in 1791.
Most examples look like a bizzare hybrid of a rapier blade and a basket hilt and are often found in poor condition. This is a lovely unique example with a very Broad blade.

Looking for £4750 will be open to trades for arms and armour, particularly close helmets, or anything 17th century and previous or other interesting Basket Hilt Variants.
