This example has superb etching with all federal requisites - the eagle, American military iconography, and of course the large U.S. There is very little corrosion on the blade - a small amount in the tip region on one side.
The shagreen is entirely intact, however the wiring has been lost to time sadly.

This example was made by the well reputed maker W. Clauberg in Solingen Germany, with a brass proof slug denoting it is of the highest quality.

The guard is entirely nice, though there is some neglect to the inside of the basket. Some call this patina, I choose to call it neglect and have elected not to clean it away.

The scabbard is perfectly straight with no dents, and the wooden slat originally placed in the Scabbard to prevent the scabbard walls from scratching the blade are also still present.

Included with the sword will be a high quality red wool washer and a high quality replica sword knot purchased specifically for this sword.

There are no bends or twists to the blade. The guard and grip is still tight to the tang. The sword rings to the touch.
