Has what I believe to be the remains of a service edge.
This is a fairly rare to see sword of the "Model Roberts" pattern which was prototyped for officers between 1895 and 1907. This particular sword was made for an officer of the artillery in 1903.
It is fairly corroded and has an old coat of varnish on the blade, however if this was cleaned off I believe it would make a nice display or even user piece.
This sword is a sort of continuation of the devolution from a military cut and thrust weapon to a thrusting weapon, this specific sabre being very light, and while stuff reminds me much more of a smallsword in handling than an actual military cut and thrust weapon.
