This is a very nice and near mint example of an Austrian Model 1861 Infantry Officer Sabre that was issued by the government. It is dated to 1896, and has the Austro - Hungarian double headed eagle acceptance stamp on the ricasso.

There is extremely slight loss to the sharkskin wrapping over the grip, however all the wiring remains tight and intact. The blade has a sharp edge that is similar in form to a chisel, as applied with a file.

Unfortunately I put some epoxy in the guard slot, however as a result there is also no movement at all in any component of the sword
