Concerning the gap between the shoulders and the cross guard that Hanwei decided to cover over with some bit of leather.  My gap was maybe an 1/8".  The sword still appears tight and it rings, but I hated that bit of a gap so I filled in the gap with some JB weld epoxy just so that I didn't have to see it. I realize not the optimal fix, but I frankly am just too busy these days to spend the time to break it all down and slot the guard etc.
