The blade is stamped with the star of the Chatellerault controller F.A. Shutz 1854 to 1872 and a F by the Director G.H. Durousseau de Fayolle 1862-1873.
The sword itself was made for a high ranking Officier d'Infanterie as marked on the spine. Because of this the blade is exceptionally fine and feels incredibly light. It is almost as nimble as a smallsword. The hilt assembly is nice and tight with the wire having being a modern replacement. Happy to post internationally or for collection from the south east of England. Please PM me if you have something to trade.
