This is a not an antique, being made at some point in the second half of the 20th Century. The blade started out as a backsword blade, but it has been sharpened to be double edged. Each side of the blade has three narrow, shallow fullers and is stamped with a half-moon and two sets of three crosses. I've seen these types of stamps on Moroccan blades and even a schiavona blade. These were likely made in imitation of those older maker marks. The blade measures 32" and the overall length is 38 3/8". The sword weighs 1 lb. 11 oz. and the PoB is about 6" from the guard. In my opinion it is a nice quality sword and I really like how the blade is atypical and hearkens back to the older European blades are encountered on 19th century takouba. I can feel a bit of movement in the grip when handling the sword, but the hilt feels like it is solidly attached. Please PM me if you are interested or if you have any questions.
