Up for sale is a hand forged rondel dagger by Eric McHugh of Crown Forge. Eric's a great smith who's been around a long time and some of you might recognize him from his work with Albion and Peter Johnsson. This particular piece has a 21 inch blade made from 1080 high carbon steel and a polished ebony handle, overall length is nearly 27 inches. The blade is single edged with a shallow hollow grind and relief grind on the spine which helps keeps the weight of the dagger to just a little over a pound despite its size. One of the nicest features of this particular dagger is the faceted waisted grip that allows for point and edge indexing by feel alone. Rondels of this size can be seen in 15th century art being worn as side arms and also show up in fechtbucher such as Talhoffer's Thott, etc. Asking price is $1,200 shipped in the US including PayPal fee.
