This Angus Trim AT1520 longsword is a classic type XVIIIb with a 7” grip. It comes with a scabbard and suspension by Russ Ellis at Tritonworks Custom Scabbards.
Sword stats – overall length: 45 inches, blade length 36 inches, weight 2lbs 12 oz, point of balance 6 inches.
This custom scabbard was also one of the first modern recreations to include a chape / ‘rainguard’ custom-made to fit around the sword’s grip and cross, and provide a positive retention at the scabbard throat. This followed on from research into the historical use of chapes in a martial context by Roland Warzecha.
The scabbard is wood core with black leather covering. The scabbard has a subtle ‘forest’ theme, with an acorn-detailed strapend, and stylized tree/branch detail on the chape. The belt features belt plaques with a reproduction medieval image of a wolf.
The suspension straps are attached to the belt with a hook mount, to allow for easily taking the sword on and off the belt, which can be handy in living history contexts.
This piece is located in New Zealand, and will ship at cost with full insurance. (For indicative cost, similar-sized swords to the US have cost about US$90.)
Price is US$1200 for sword and scabbard.
