Several PMs, dealing with mostly the same issues, so I thought I would respond here.

Questions so far:

How long have you had it?
- Since April 2008, purchased off these boards from forumite Jeff Larsen.

Is it a sharp?
- The tip is sharp, i.e. I would not want to fall on it. The edge is dull, for example when compared to a katana, but for a rapier I believe it would be considered a live blade.

If so, has it been used for cutting? (thrusting really, since it's a rapier)
- No, not during it’s tenure with me. Nor, I believe, with Jeff. Just for display

If not, has it been used for drills and/or bouts?
- No. It looks pristine.

Are there any noticeable defects/imperfections/marks?
- Aside from it’s being hand forged, which does leave a few irregularities, no. It appears as I imagine it did when it left the shop.

How has it been stored?
- With RenWax, wrapped in plastic wrap, kept in a dry, well-heated house.

If you do practise rapier, how does it handle in comparison to other makers?
- I do not practice rapier. My interest is in the craft of making these weapons.

I can see in the pics it looks like a live blade, not a practice blade... is it sharp? How would you describe the tip and edge?
- See above.

How is the hilt assembled...? Is it peened or is the pommel a twist on pommel of some sort?
- Peened.

How is the grip made under the wire wrap?
- Huh? I have no way of seeing below the wire. Hope that helps.

What’s the Weight of the sword.... do you have a leather sheath for it?
- According to Jeff and/ or Mr. Cervenka, in the sale to me, the weight was cited as 1040 g. With no access to a sophisticated scale, I cannot verify this! No sheath.

Is the blade sharp? Is it with or without patina? What is the weight? What's your general thought on the quality of the piece?
- See above. There is a hand applied patina on the wire grip. The design on the cup is etched and has a slightly dusky appearance. No patina or etching on the blade itself. There are some very subtle grind marks, hammer indentations, etc. This is not a CNC blade. See above. General impression, sweet!
