I am offering for sale a, Late migration period Spatha, the blade is a semi sharp monoblade construction, a single broad fuller. The blade dimensions are ; 70cm (27.5") length x 5cm (1 15/16") width at the hilt. The Overall length is 85cm (35.5"). Manufactured by St.George Armoury.
The upper and lower guards are black horn on wood, sandwiched by 1.5mm bronze plates, rivetted through the guard. The grip is also black horn around a wood former,
The Pommel is a 'cocked hat' type, with 'cloisonne effect' cells, modelled after the Sutton Hoo grave one Spatha. The entire hilt garneture by Dave Roper.
This is a much loved sword and I am offering it for sale only to part fund a commissioned sword for my eldest sons 21st birthday.
Asking price £400 plus P&P and any duties.
