Hello all. I have for sale a Roman cavalry spatha from Lonely Mountain Forge. The sword was hand-forged by Mr. Joseph Piela from high-carbon steel. The web-site lists this steel as either 1084 or 1095. The blade is of diamond section, the edges are sharpened, and the blade polished to a semi-mirror finish. You can clearly see forge marks on this blade which, in my opinion, are quite attractive and only add to the rustic character of this sword. The grip is hand-carved bone. The grip could be refined by further polishing to remove some bone material, and would be a must for someone with smaller hands, as the grip is quite thick. The guard and pommel are carved of hardwood which is stained and decorated with simple line engravings. An oval bronze plate has been set between the base of the blade and the guard as in the originals. The tang is of peined construction. Here are some basic stats:
Overall length: 38.75"
Blade length: 29.75"
Blade width: 2" uniform down length of blade, tapering to short point.
Grip length: 4"
P.O.B: around 7" from guard.
Sorry I have not included the weight. I do not have a scale to measure this by. I can tell you that the sword is very solid, and feels heavy near the point. She's not a clunker, but is definitely a sword for someone with a strong arm. A cavalry weapon through-and-through. For those of you whom are familiar with Mr. Piela's work, a lot of his commissions are intended for reenactment, and are thus made robust to take some punishment. This spatha is no exception.
I am asking $475. That includes s/h in U.S. I will accept cashiers check or money order. Please feel free to pm or email me for pics or if you have further questions regarding this sword. (bluenoteknight@yahoo.com) Thank you for your interest.

That is (most likely) ok with me too. I have only used those inside the EU and to pay to a firm. At the moment I have no idea how to proceed, but I'll find out. I'd say we have a "pending" deal at the moment
Could you please provide me with the info I'm going to need to transfer the sum and I'll try to figure out the rest.
thanks!
Timo
Timo, I sent you a pm. Cheers.
