For sale is a hand forged sgian achlais. The original is pictured in Neumann's Swords and Blades of the American Revolution. The blade is 6 1/4" long by 1 1/16" wide at the base of the blade. It has a 2 1/4" false edge and file work on the spine of the blade. Straight antler grip and iron ferrule. The knife was artificially aged by the maker, which has resulted in an incredibly authentic staining of the blade -- this knife has fooled several friends who thought I had stumbled onto an original. The aging also resulted in some pshallow pitting to the end of the ferrule which I tried to photo. the pitting is only on the ferrule (not the blade) and its location is not noticeable. It never bothered me as it added to the aged feel of the knife, but I mention it for those who might be bothered by it. The knife comes with a simple oak tanned leather sheath made by me.
You won't find a better sgain. $180 plus $12 shipping in CONUS. PayPal please add 3% to cover fees.
