Del Tin 2172 Parrying Dagger
Original: 17th century
his large parrying dagger is meant for use in the off-hand. The long guard features a strong ring guard and quillons the curve down and forward, hexagonal in cross-section. The unusual pommel is squarish with a raised area in the center, and is decorated with incised fluted lines.
The iron wire-wrapping of the grip has been replaced by leather over spiral-wrapped wire. The scabbard, made by
Art Elwell's A Work of Art, is leather-covered, wool-lined wood. The fittings are German silver, accented with Sterling silver. The top locket features a sharkskin strap that attaches to a brass button, securing the dagger in the scabbard.
Inspired by an original located in the castle of Udine, before the armoury moved to another museum at Villa Manin of Passariano.
