Hi Noel,
First, welcome to the site. Happy

Second, if you're interested in armour, I highly suggest picking up a copy of the book Techniques of Medieval Armour Reproduction by Brian Price. It is an excellent book that will take you step by step through the process, focusing primarily on various aspects of 14th century armour. It will explain what tools you need, how to do various techniques, and so on. It is also full of pictures, which is always nice. Happy

On top of that, I also highly recomment browsing the photo albums on this site to familiarize yourself with period armour shapes and pieces. From there you should try to get your hands on as many books that show antique armour.

An excellent resource for beginning armorers is the Armour Archive,

http://www.armourarchive.org/

Find the Essay section and read through all of that, then browse the Patterns and check out the Discussion area. LOTS of very experienced folks there!

Have fun!

Matthew
