sword styles
Hey everyone! I have had a real problem recently, i am trying to figure out what kind of sword would be good for me. single hand, two handed, cutting, thrusting cut and thrust. You get the idea.
anyway i was wondering if anyone had any ideas of how to figure that out. tess or something? I figure their must have been some way for the medieval knight to decide what weapon he was good with.
well thanks in advance for any answers.
Well, at the risk of being overly simplistic, I say that there is no real certain way to know that without your trying those types out to see... I'm sure someone probably has thought of a test or something to determine your type, but I think it better to try it personally to see.

Part of it surely has to be personal preference. As simple as what do you like when you look at them. That is purely aesthetic, but has a bearing to some degree on what a person chooses, for certain. Beyond that, what aptitudes you have for each type will be hard to determine by anyone else but you. And that is probably going to require a bit of experimentation if your goal is to find a sword type that is in tune with your physical and mental traits.

Just my thoughts on the issue. Watch somebody pop up that has a hundred percent foolproof system for matching user to sword, now that I've said this... :D
I should probably add, as a late thought, that I think more than personal preferences came into play choosing a weapon 'in the day'. A large portion of what weapon was chosen probably also came from the mode of combat being practiced and the types of targets most expected to be encountered... (So, I'm guessing again... lol )
