Hi, I'm very new in the real swords theme, (and in this forum too), but I'm training a lot to have a very good skills with the sword, and this site is has been very helpful for me.

I'm Mexican and unfortunaly here, the western martial arts is a very rare theme, and the info is hard to get, so the help of all of you will be a great help.

Well, my point is, We are training with wood practice weapons, and we have a decent level, and we like to change for steel sparring weapons, (with the all the security and care, of course), and sharpened weapons to practice the cuts. Surfing the net, we found a lot of labels, styles of swords, etc. and I'm a little overhelmed with all of that info. And my question will be, Can you guys, recommend us some labels of good productions swords? For both sparring and cutting practice. And ... Can some of you reccomend us some styles of those labels for a begginers like us?. We'are looking for single and half-and-half medieval swords.

Every help will be much for us.

You can take a look at the Albion Maestro Line for practice swords. So far they have only released one, The Liechtenauer, but it seems to be one of the best practice longsword on the market. It's also quite affordable.

For test-cutting you can take a look at the Albion Next Gen http://www.albion-swords.com/swords/albion/sw...extgen.htm.

Arms & Armour also offer very nice training weapons : http://www.arms-n-armor.com/training.html Their one-hander trainers are apparently very handy.

A&A also offer nice swords for test-cutting, and some of the best production rapiers on the market :

Angus Trim also offer sharp cutting swords and some training blunts. His cutting swords are renowed to be extremely good in terms of performance. http://www.angustrimdirect.com They are also less expensive than those from A&A and Albion.

Finally, there is Armour Class who offer nice light and sturdy blunt swords (the one-handers especially) : http://www.armourclass.com/ They are relatively inexpensive.

A question: What about the Ritter Steel and Cold Steel Swords?, some of their swords look very nice, but what about funcionality? You are the experts.

If you are looking for functionnal swords, stay away from them. Well, Cold Steel could be ok for some test-cutting but not much more than that I think.
