I'm putting this in the Off Topic forum because I'm fairly certain that this is not a reproduction of an historical weapon. I received this sword for Christmas. It was purchased at a local antique shop and all I really know is that the shop owner told the buyer it was a "Three Musketeers Sword" and also warned her that "It was not a real sword." Still, it's a fun little piece and I'd like to know just a little bit more about it. I'm hoping some of you can provide a little information for me.
To me, this sword looks like it was some sort of souvenir or book or movie tie-in. The pommel is a musketeer head. The quillons are especially interesting. They are women wearing thigh-high lace up boots and a mini skirt. They sort of look like the type of women you see in silhouette on tractor trailer mud flaps. Are these characters from a book or movie?
The grip is molded plastic meant to look like a chord or wire wrap. (Future project: replace the grip.) The ricasso is a honking huge block. The blade is stamped "China." So there is no mystery as to where it was made. I also know the blade is "surgical steel". Another marking on the blade is the word "Rostfrei". The maker perhaps?
Any info, guesses, etc. are more than welcome.

I'd guess "rostfrei" means "stainless."

Yes, you're quite right, McBrayer, rostfrei means stainless in German.

It's quite similar. Though, on mine, there isn't a very obvious difference in the faces on each side of the pommel. It's also definitely women on the quillons. The knuckle guard shows both sides, front and back, of a musketeer.

Here is a close up of one of the quillons. I don't think she is a musketeer. The seller told my mom that the quillons were mermaids. I don't think that looks like a tail. It looks like a mini-skirt with thigh high boots. And if they are mermaids, why?
