I was wondering if someone would be knid enoughto identify this Targaid from my data files as I have no info on it.
In fact I have quite a a few without details but, you know, you gotta grab stuff while you can. Id rather have a photo of an original item unmarked than no photo at all !

This targaid is known as the Grant of Glenmoriston targaid, - circa 1700- Diameter 20".
Hope it can be of some help.

Grant of Glenmoriston
Fig. 4:5 -- Scottish Highland Targe -- Covered in embossed cowhide decorated with brass studs and nails. Triangular pierced brass pieces adorn the front and are used on the deerskin back to reinforce the arm-strap and hand-grip. Used by Grant of Glenmoriston in the 1719 Rising, c. 1700. 20 " diameter. Lender Ian Grant of Glenmoriston.
