This is for my Atrim single hander called "BRACKEN"
loverly sword, nicely engraved too.
i went for a simple look for this one. brown wood, brown leather. the belt is very supple and criss-crossed with latigo. the scabbard is Oak (which fits the blad like a glove!) the chape i bought from albions moat sale.

Miss Neal,
I read about the problem of using oak, because of the tannins or acids within that wood, also I noticed that your scabbard does have a tight fit, so I wonder if bee's wax could coat the interior of the scabbard and neutralize the effects of the acids ? It would seem a shame to lose such precise and good looking work. I have used bee's wax which is sold for waterproofing boots, it's quite soft and does apply like boot wax, or maybe even some more liquid forms are out there which could be poured into the scabbard and gradually cover the internal surface. I don't know how ''acid'' pine is , but I did something similar and so far so good, but it should be noted that my blades are acid patinated anyway, so maybe I'm simply not seeing any effect as the blades are already ''aged''.... anyway, best of luck to you.
