A great unusual Armour shot (photo)
I wish I could have claimed that I'd taken this shot, but I cant, I found it on-line. Having been an Advertising & Commercial photographer since I was 19 yrs old and having served on the commitee for our professional photography organisation, I can say that I love this shot ! If you HAVE to get your reflection in a Museum Glass window while photographing armour, then this must surely be the ultimate way to do it !! It even approaches the fine art look and I must give the photographer credit for thinking of the idea as well as pulling it off so well !! Its taken by a gent named only as D.D.M. at FlickR and is at the Musée de l'Armée, Paris. Well done Mr D. D. M. !!
No! It's the ghost of D.D.M.!

Damn, that's a cool photo op. I'm going to have to steal his idea. Rather shamelessly, too, I imagine. :D
That is a really neat photo! I agree with Sam - it looks very 'ghostly'. Thanks for posting it, Merv.
Neat little camera trick.

On a completely unrelated note, you wouldn't by any chance have more photos of this armour and any more info about it? The "strapping" over the shoulders has me intrigued.

Thanks!

the strapping looks fairly standard for a 17C back and breast. Leather straps attached to the back plate, one on each shoulder, covered in small metal plates to stop the leather being cut.

That photo is awesome.

Take a closer look there, those are hinges and the 'strap' closes with a sneckt (sp?) hook. I think that's an all metal 'strap' which is very neat.

Great picture effect too :)

You are right, but it looks fairly normal 16/17th century to me, although, i am in no way an expert on armour...
The funniest thing about the photo (and this is probably obvious to everyone already) is that normally in a museum setting, the glass case presents a reflection problem for photographs... so instead of fighting it, the photographer has chosen to play with it instead.

Bravo!

Hi Steve........How have you been doing ...good I presume !

Everyone..... Ive had a lot of fun sifting through the shots at the "Flickr " site....its Yahoo's photo sharing site and I've already joined ( its free) and loaded some shots of medieval stuff that I've made....... http://www.flickr.com/photos/30517210@N00/ ..... But if you do a search on "Armour'" or "medieval" you could spend the week brousing !!

I didnt see any more shots of that particular armour, but that doesent mean its not there somewhere.

Cheers !
Attached is another photo with a similar effect.

It can be found in this Pbase Gallery.

Also very cool. But did you also notice the long pick on the war hammer exhibited to the right? Wow!
