Paul,

Your collection displayed is phenomenal in every way. Just breathtaking. I hope you have a secure home to guard such treasures! The continuity of the pieces is striking. What I love most about this collection and display is that it is so historical. Seeing pieces of this quality only confirms my exclusive commitment to collecting only historically designed pieces.

Why go fantsy when history has legt us this?

Beautiful,

Jeremy
Simply breathtaking :)

Dave does do extremely good work and just gets better and better. Thanks everyone. Matt made the boss on the shield and then Dave put the shiny bits on it. So thanks to Matt, too; I have seen the seax that Matt refers to and it is lovely (Matt made the blade).
If there is anything that anyone would like to see in more detail, just let me know.

Paul

Paul do you have any pics of the spear and spearhead from the pic that Patrick Kelly posted on page one.

I know it wasn't made by Dave, but I would love to see some pics and get some info about the spear?
Is it a replica of a historical spearhead? If so of a viking or anglo-saxon spearhead or ....??
Do you have dimensions as well?

Thanks

Danny
Hi Danny - sorry for the late reply. That spear was made by Tim Noyes, it is pattern welded and is rather small Swanton type H -- and is Anglo-Saxon. I don't know if it is modelled on a particular find as I didn't commission it. I'll post a picture and dimensions tomorrow.

Paul
Hi Danny,
I have taken a new picture of the spear, along with two others.
The Tim Noyes is on the left -- it is 12 inches long including the split socket - the blade is about seven inches. The spear next to that is by Vince Evans and is also pattern welded. The spear on the right is by Paul Binns and is made from wrought iron with a steel edge hammer welded on. It is a copy of the find from Welbeck Hill, Lincolnshire. It is unusual in that it has two rings (bronze on the original - silver on the reproduction).

Cheers,

Paul
