A knight (?) of the court of Louis XI
I thought I would share another print from my colletion. It is a plate from an unkown French manuscript from the late 18th century or early 19th century that depicts one Michel de Chaugy. Does anyone know anything about him? (Google and wikipedia were not much help!) Enjoy and please comment!

Michel de Chaugy
Hello!

From what I could gather, Michel de Chaugy was a counsellor and chambellan of Philip III, Duke of Burgundy. That could explain the colors of the coat of arms he is wearing here (seems based on the one of Tourraine, which was included int the coat of arm of Burgundy by Philip II), though he apparently wears a totally different one on this altarpiece.

Oh, and he apparently built a castle in Roussillon-en-Morvan, but it was destroyed during the french revolution (see this page in french).

All this being subject to the usual disclaimers because it was pulled from the internet alone, but still it's better than nothing ;)
Vincent,
Thank you! I appreciate your help.

Jonathan
