Here's a few pics of the scabbard progress and finished scabbard for my first generation
Albion Mainz Gladius. The work was done by Christian Fletcher. At first I was thinking of a
historical scabbard, but then decided on something a bit different, with CF's creative help.
I also want to thank CF for fitting the Mainz into his que; into a spot originally meant for
another sword ... B-)
And one of a historical version from Christian Fletcher's website ...

Christian does some amazing work. Have to love the extras he puts into each piece. Congrats on a lovely scabbard for your Gladius.
Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

Thanks, Greg. CF has done up scabbards for a number of my swords now. Mostly Albion blades. I'm very
pleased with the service, willingness to work outside the box, and the eventual result.

Mr. Fletcher has a very nice slideshow with step-by-step progress photos of a scabbard for an Albion gladius - perhaps this very one? (I apologize if this link has been posted before.)

Congratulations on a fine scabbard Matthew. There aren't that many roman style scabbards being made and it's nice to see one in that vein.

Very nice indeed! Christian just made a scabbard for my Berserkr and at the same time yanked the ratty looking grip
on a Del Tin Sax I had, matching a new one to the Berserkr. Who'd a thunk?
The scabbard really makes your Mainz.

Looks like CF is still doing his usual superb work.
I have one CF scabbard now.
Used to have another, but I sold it and the sword it came with.
Good products and buying expereince, in my case.

Thanks, Steve. Some of the scabbards that I've commissioned CF to work on HAVE been designs
I've drawn up as templates. A ways back I had an idea that I never drew-up quite right to submit to CF
with any confidence -- it was a scabbard / stand combination that, no matter how I drew it, looked
like a dang toaster. B-)
For the most part, I think of my swords and scabbards as " workmanlike " affairs -- items to use or,
if re-sold, that would appeal to others. And no, the scabbard-slide-show on CF's website is not of
my sword -- though I think the general wood-core would be similar.

Thanks Patrick, always glad you take the time to look at my stuff. B-) One of the other ideas
I had for this blade's scabbard was something I'd seen John Lundemo do with a gladius-
style sword; I think it had accents like his Redeemer scabbard ( I THINK JL did a Redeemer
style blade / scabbard for someone ... ) ... But I ended up deciding to let CF work off the idea
of reducing the metal frame work and using a baldric style rig.
