Plate leg harness features fairly often in the discription of French mounted archers after the introduction of the ordonnace companies. Gilles le Bouvier (Berry King-of-Arms) bescribed the archers as:
"armed for most parts with brigandines, armour for the legs, and sallets, many of which were ornamented with silver; and at the least all of the had good jacks or haubergeons."

During the 1494 invasion of Italy the archers were described as wearing breast plates as well, though I can't find the exact quote at the moment.
Archer were plate armor all the time in period artwork, but that could just be convention. Could you draw a bow in full armor? I don't know.

The written sources I've seen suggest lighter armor, such as light brigandines and mail shirts.
