Hello all,

I was just looking at the pictures shown in Chad's marketplace sale listing for Bruno Thomas's Arms and Armour of the Western World and noticed the pic of the battle axe with hammer head. To my eye, it looks very much like a relatively new offering from MRL (sans belt clip). The MRL axe in question also has an axehead with rounded blade ends and a hammer head instead of the more commonly presented back-spike. It can be viewed on their website, item # 600646.

Sorry, my computer skills are lacking or I would post a link/pic of the MRL axe and the historical piece in question (maybe a member with greater skills than I can post them for viewing comparison).

IMHO MRL does a good job of periodically putting out decent reproductions of various axes, maces and hammers that don't otherwise seem to be produced elsewhere. I for one am glad that they do, and I try to pick up a few each year, especially as they seem to have limited production runs on certain of them.

Does anyone else think the MRL the battle axe with hammer head looks strikingly similar to the axe in Chad's book sale posting? If so, what date would the MRL axe fall into?

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Thank's Nathan! You are a picture posting wizard.

I agree on the languets. A belt clip would have been nice too. They just put out another recent battle axe with back spike with a nicely done integral clip. I picked it up earlier this year.

How was the wood?

The last warhammer I got from them was a joke. The wooden handle exploded the first time I hit anything with it and I've been leary of buying anything else with a haft from them since.
