About 5 years ago, when Fellowship of the RIng came out , i contacted Peter Lyon, the swordsmith for the films, in regards to a commission. At the time Peter was still taking commissions.
To make a really long story short, Peter began emailing me progress pictures of my sword a few weeks ago and its near completion at this point.
The design is something Peter and i aggreed upon and is inspired heavily but the Lord of the Rings movie swords.
All work on this sword is done by Peter by hand except for the leather coverings of the grip and scabbard which are done by the same gentleman that did them for the movies.........
This sword is as close as you can get to a LoTR movie sword, short of owning a prop........The design is VERY close to several of the main heros swords and really looks like it COULD have been in the film....

Hey! Check that out. I'd guess that anybody wishing to have a sword somewhat inspired by those in the Lord of the Rings movies might as well go to the source! It's really great seeing new work from Mr. Lyon. I know his focus is not on the private collector as much as it once was, given his popularity and expansion into new areas. Thank you for sharing.

Wow, that is one fantastic looking sword!

I really can appreciate the fact that he managed to include the properties of a hollow-ground blade, deep-wide fuller and diamond cross-section all in one blade and make it look so good. That in itself itself is pretty fantastic if you ask me!

I'd invest in some Museum Wax soon dude. You don't want to let that mirror bright finish get tarnished or it will be a bitch to polish out later. ;-)

That is absolutely gorgeous.

It really does look like something out of the movies.

Once again it's stunning.

David that's a God-aweful beautiful blade. There are few people out there who do hollow grinding as well as Peter. Since Peter has been doing more and more movie work, the mere fact that you got something from him at all makes it all the more collectable. Congrats on a fine blade and one that will certainly accent your already illustrious LOTR pieces. David if you can shoot me a PM I want to ask you something.

Congratulations on a fine acquisition David. I especially like the fuller work and hollow grinding on the blade.

Peter sent me a few more shots of the finished sword....... he had to go back and add an additional ring to the scabbard, but now it is completly finished. He will be mailing it first part of next week...

This sword is very beautiful, and have many interesting characteristics (like the hollow grinding of the blade).

What is the reason for the fourth ring that was added to the scabbard ? I understand it was not in the initial design... ?
