I am currently making a 6-in-1 full hauberk. I have finished all but the sleeves. I am having a difficult time finding a pattern that tapers the sleeves while still providing enough movement to be functional in a combat situation. Please help!
Since this is the Historical Arms board, I must point out that there is zero evidence for an entire hauberk made from six in one mail. Consequently, there is no historical pattern to share. Here's a thread showing how typical 4:1 mail sleeves are sometimes tapered.
That's the Tiefenau fragment. Certainly 6:1 weave, from a Celtic hoard in Switzerland. No suggestion that an entire shirt was made in this manner from such a small piece is warranted.ferrum ferro acuitur et homo exacuit faciem amici sui
