I thought this was interesting.

This medieval knife has the exact same construction as a larger styled messer, including the "nagel" protruding from the guard. Not terribly surprising, but interesting nonetheless.

It looks a bit like some scandinavian messers i have seen, there is a guy in Stockholm that`s done a couple of those.
