I ordered the dvd from Amazon.ca this week (not out at US Amazon until September) and received notice that its on the way. I'll do a review when I get it if anyone is interested.
I thought that Valentine did all of the armour work for the movie and that he was selling off the helms awhile back? So its possible to get the original helms too.

My wife "Gayle" and I are both dying to see this DVD. I tried the link in the post and it took me to a book section. Can you send or post the link to where I can order this DVD, if in fact like Patrick inquired, that it will play properly on U.S. dvd players?

I have This DVD and it works fine.
Canadian DVDs are encoded as "Region 1" (US and Canada) NTSC so they are supposed to be compatible. I've purchased many Canadian DVDs in the past because years ago, many things were released in Canada first. I don't know if this is true any longer.

Should be compatible as the North American region, maybe all the Americas, North, central and South America. ( Maybe, not 100% sure about the last. )
Europe is treated as a different region and would be PAL instead of NTSC standard. ( Although this applies to VHS tapes it also applies to T.V. sets or monitors. ) I think Asia is treated as a separate region and I don't know which standards apply to Australia. ( No idea about Antarctica but that's only a problem for penguins and a few lonely / isolated scientists. :p :lol: )
Oh, I've sent friends DVDs from up here in Canada and they had no problem viewing them on their U.S. viewers: At least this is first hand proof that it works fine.

Nathan: Also French films released here in Québec / Canada are U.S. compatible. This might be interesting for anyone looking for the French versions of films and they shouldn't order DVDs directly from Europe / France.
Many if not most of these have English sub-titles that can be selected ON / OFF. Just good to know if some of you want some classic French films.
I could always check out if some titles are available at my local DVD stores and ask if they ship to the U.S.A. and post links if they do. Oh, might be possible to go to the Amazon site and, from there, go the the Canadian Amazon site to order ??? ( Doing it through this site should work if the previous works and give this site credit for it. )

I have it too, and it worked just fine. I thought the film was fantastic. It didn't have the feel of a big-budget Hollywood epic (like Gladiator or the LOTR films). IOW, no fancy-schmancy computer graphics or any of that other crazy stuff. It's also a beautiful film in that the director chose to use the natural landscape. I think it was filmed in Iceland. Good swordplay, good costumes and armour. Valentine did the armour for the film; they're actually mentioned in the credits. BTW Patrick, nice to hear from you again!!

Hard to tell from the link as the helm shown is from the film, so the helm shown is one of those made by Valentine.
How similar or different from the Valentine made ones ? I don't see those on the Valentine site currently but they might still be available as special orders or semi-custom work: Just E-Mail Valentine if you want to know for sure.
valintine did carry all of the helmets form the movie. last i went to their site they were all gone. i wonder if the movie put a copyright on them etc for licencing issues

I will probably buy it. I am still waiting for an official ( or unofficial) director's cut of The 13th Warrior. That will probably never happen. Speaking of which, don;t we need a 5 hour extra-special-deluxe box set anniversery edition of Braveheart? Haha just wishful thinking.

Not a 100% sure but I think I saw it at a DVD store not long ago up here: Not too surprising considering that it's a Canadian and Icelandic co-production I think.
