I'm trying to compile a reliable history of the bayonet and acccording to the Encyclopedia Britannica John Moore introduced a "spring-clip" in 1805. I wondered if anyone else knows anything about this innovation, if it was one.
I hope this forum caters for those interested in bayonets as well.

I think it is just an adoption of an existing EIC pattern, it certainly wasn't widely adopted on the Peninsular

It certainly should do ! I for one, as a former collector of bayonets, are still extremely interested in them. Unfortunately, I am not particularly knowledgable on them and do not , at present, have a single book on them in my library  But i still have the interest, if not the collection! 
Any other bayonet enthusiasts out there ??

PS. Probably the book to look up would be R.J.Wilkinson -Lathams book on bayonets of the British army. He is also a moderator on the SFI if I recall correctly?
