Armeria del Palacio Real de Madrid (Armoury at the Royal Palace in Madrid)
by Guillermo Quintana Lacaci
The curator of the Royal Armoury (1982-1982), Guillermo Quintana Lacaci, shows us the prestigious collections of arms and armour at the Armoury at the Royal Palace in Madrid. Most of the pieces in the collection were worn by Spanish monarchs and leading historical figures. They include medieval arms kept by the Catholic Kings in the Segovia Aleazar. Likewise are featured 15th century Spanish harnesses brought to Spain from the "Salas de los Linajes" (Halls of Lineages) in Soria, suits of armour belonging to Philip I the Handsome and some pieces worn by Maximilian I and subsequently kept by Charles V.
Dozens and dozens of photos of arms and armour, all (or almost all?) in color, fill this small 191 page book. All text is in French.
Very good, near fine, condition.
