L'Archevêque NEW smallsword
Hi folks
I just got my new smallsword yerterday made by François L'Archevêque. It is a realy great weapon. it is, in my ideas, better than all other smallswords I've ever handle (ok, I must admit, I never tried the Arms&Armour one) .
The blade has a 28 3/4 inches lenght and the overall lenght of the sword is 34 1/4 inches. What is incredible is its weight, 15 oz! It is really lightweight. In the hand it seems really similar to authentic ones I've taken (just 2 in fact) .
The blade has a "standard" shape (made with a Triplette schlager blade) but I know he can build them with hollow groun triangular blades and I know those are much lighter.
The handle was made to fit the size of my hand.
But, I do not like the shape of the "cup" (do not know the specific word in english, sorry :P) But it is a minor problem, and my next one will not have that shape.
I think those pieces are sold 300$ wich I think it is quite afforable for a real combat sword with the feels of the old ones.

If the pictures don't appears right just go there;

Very cool, I hadn't seen his work before! Do you intend to fence with this?
Of course I'll fence with this one! Just have to put a blunt on the point of the blade and it will be great! I'll surely not deprime myself of the pleasure of fencing with it (O:
Marc-Antoine,

Congratulations on your new acquisition and thanks for sharing the pictures!

Do you happen to know if François has a website?

Thanks!
no, Frank has no website, yet. For some picture of some of his past projects you should see Jean Thibodeau's thread http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=6727
it is too bad he has no website, I think such talent must be shown...
I have two more weapons in preparation by him, a german longsword and a holbein dagger. as soon has they are ready IMll show you.
