In the spirit of Craig's thread about Albion swords...assume you have enough money to let you pay off any outstanding debts and still have enough left over to choose any four polearms from Arms & Armor. What would you pick?
I believe I'd pick up the Knightly Pole Axe, the English Bill, the High Gothic Mace, and their 12th Century Spear.
Just polearms? Well, definitely that Knightly Pole Axe! I'd also take the Italian Bill, High Gothic Mace, and the 12th C spear.

I think that I would go for their Sparth Axe/Berdiche - this shows up in the A&A pdf catalog, but not the on-line catalog.

The A&A Sparth Axe is a fantastic weapon. I like mine so much I'm planning to buy another one -- one for training (and occasional test-chopping) and one for admiring and polishing.... :D

I'd go with the Danish War Axe, the Iberian Mace, the 12th Century Spear, and the Quarter Staff. As you might have guessed, the polearms and hafted weapons I am most interested in at the moment are either early or high medieval.

What I would really want is a slightly customized Knightly Pole Axe and slightly more customized High Gothic Mace. In both cases what I want is something that is a fairly precise reproduction of the original. Both of these weapons have some detail omissions, to wit:
1. On the pole axe, there is an inscription etched or engraved on the face of the "hammer" part of the weapon. Also, there are some decorative punchmarks that are omitted.
2. The mace lacks the inlayed latten (brass) strips that are on (I believe) each side of the hexagonal shaft. Also, the construction and shape of the hilt and grip is off.
I suspect they would want more to do these minor details then I could hope to pay. I would love to get semi-finished examples and do the labour intensive decorative work myself, but I doubt they would go for that.
As an aside, does anybody know how A&A currently makes the Gothic Mace? In the old days (80's) they would cast the head in steel, drill a hole in the bottom, tap it with 1/2"x13 NC threads, and then get a length of hexagonal bar, thread the end, tack weld a couple of discs to make the hilt, screw on the head, and then weld it in place. I get a sense that this remains unchanged except for details, but I do not know.
NOte that the original was hilted in a manner similar to a sword, with a "crossguard" (or disc, in this case), grip, and "pommel" all peened together on the end of the shaft.

Of the larger pole arms I have the Danish War Axe and the 12th Century Spear, of the smaller polearms I have the spiked mace and the flail.
I am very attracted to the Italian Bill with 7 foot pole, the new Custom Glaive with integral Cross, Knightly Pole axe and the Custom Halberd on a 7 foot pole would be my 4 choices provided I had the money of which at this time unfortunately I do not.
The Danish War Axe is a real beauty and I love the way it handles. The 12th Century Spear was my very first purchase in the realm of swords and medieval weapons so it is very special to me as is the German Bastard Sword (not of topic) as it was my very first sword. I like the Sparth Axe a lot too and almost bought one, but that is just a matter of time.
