Hi all!
Last week I finally got to see the movie, and...

In my opinion, the costumes are great (this is the only matter I can control, hi hi...), the images are good, sometimes they look like pictures, just like the kind of images on "The girl with a pearl earring", for example.

I didn,t read any of the books, so I can,t say how close the story is to the originals, but I accepted the story I saw, although I must admit that there are too many things happening, it goes too fast, I,d rather see three films, one of each two books, than just one film, it,s too condensed...

I found acceptable the performances, except for the girls, sorry, but these actresses are the kind I don,t like...
and, what else can I say? The end..mmm... could it be possible more films in a future? Who can tell...

Anyway, this is the first great effort on historical films in Spain, ot would be nice to see more of this!!

I am a Dutchman living in Spain and for me it was great to see my fellow (former) countrymen as the bad guys. The war to gain our independance lasted (give or take) 80 years and sadly enough little attention is usually paid to this historic event.
The conflict saw various innovations in warfare and it is a great a example of how a small but determined group of people can overcome the most powerfull nation in the world. (the vietnam of Spain so to speak).
