A fine Scottish basket-hilted sword, circa 1760
Hello everybody,

While searching the internet I found an amazing Scottish basket-hilted broadsword. It's currently on Peter Finer's website at

http://diadama.com/peterFiner/Movie.html

Just look under swords and start drooling. The blade was made by Clemens Horn, an early 17th century blademaker in Solingen. There are also some other fine swords as well. I'm sure that there is something for everybody on that website. Anyway, take care!

Thanks,
Todd

Hello Todd,

The link doesn't seem to work. Hope you get it fixed, because I'm obsessed about basket hilts :D

Cheers,
Henrik
Just remove the period at the end of the link, Henrik.
That basket hilt is a beauty, as are several other pieces on the website. But, looking at the prices, I will stick with reproductions.
She's a beauty, Todd! Thanks for sharing.

Hummm... A stirling styled basket hilt (of non conventional form) without those waves on the rear and nuckle guards... Interesting!
Does anyone know if there are more hilts with this look???

Cheers,
Henrik

Hi Henrik

Aye, I've seen others in this style !
Checkout Mazansky's book, page 148 (G7b) James Forman collection, and page 149 (G7c) Royal Armouries IX.874

The Finer example is a beauty, Mac
Hi Mac,

I just have to get Mazansky's book first! :D

Cheers,
Henrik
