Christian and James,

As an educational excercise can you elaborate a bit on what features of the bevor make it look later?

To me, the central ridge/crease makes it look like it belongs more to a close helm than a sallet, but I don't really know what I'm looking at with this stuff.

Gentlemen: Here is my original question...could some of the French men-at-arms with St. Joan of Arc been equipped with the Salet/Bevor? St. Joan's military career spanned 1429-1431. I say yes. What say you experts?

On a side note, I would like to say that I have nothing but respect for Mr. Gillaspie's workmanship, and value his opinion greatly. Also, I own and have read Mr. Tobler's book on German medieval swordsmanship. IT IS AWESOME! A MUST READ!
